Beijing Provides More Opportunities for Foreign Students

Bejing will welcome foreign students to attend classes in 176 educational organizations including primary, middle and high schools and universities.

Compared with last year, more than 9,000 foreign students come to Beijing and the expected number of students is about 80,000. Besides Chinese language as one of the major curriculums to choose, Chinese culture, Chinese history and economics are also gaining in popularity, according to the newspaper.

For these students, three types of scholarships are provided, including tuition and accommodation fee waivers, tuition waivers and half-tuition exemptions. Students from China as well as foreign countries may be arranged in a same classroom during class time, and both Chinese and English will be used in teaching process.

The situation of the number of students is on the rise, but not the quality of the students. This policy aims to attract more students from foreign countries, especially from top universities. Educators believe offering a top-notch education is the real key to attracting high-quality students.
